January 12, 2010 - Tuesday Pactica at Bamboo Grove

*This week, we're featuring a whole DECADE: The Orchestras of the 1950s!*
From 9-10pm we explore the Post-Golden Age of Tango, seeing where many of the major orchestras went as their music evolved:
  • Featuring the orchestras of Di Sarli, D'Arienzo, Troilo, De Angelis, Biagi, and (of course) Pugliese!
  • Complexity of new musical arrangments and the beginnings of Tango Nuevo.
* In the last two weeks, we looked at orchestras of the 30s and 40s, and continue on this week with the decade of the 50s. We will sample many orchestras of those times and explore the major sounds and styles that represented each decade, in the end giving us a large perspective of the music that we love dancing to, the music of the Golden Age of Tango. And in teh following week, we will return to featuring a single orchestra at a time.*
