December 22, 2009 Tuesday Pactica at Bamboo Grove

*This week, we're featuring a whole DECADE: The Orchestras of the 1930s!*
From 9-10pm we embrace the Dawn of the Golden Age of Tango, revisiting many of the major orchestras that recorded in the 1930's. We'll look at what these great bands have in common and how the sound and style they created laid the foundation for Argentine Tango in the decades to follow:
  • Featuring the orchestras of D'Arienzo, Lomuto, Donato, Fresedo, Canaro, and Orquesta Típica Victor...
  • Classic Vals and Milongas
  • Featuring many great vocalists such as Alberto Echague, Roberto Ray, Horacio Lagos, Jorge Omar...
*For the next three weeks, the featured orchestra portion of the Practica will be devoted to the decades of the 30s, the 40s and the 50s, respectively. We will sample many orchestras of those times and explore the major sounds and styles that represented each decade, in the end giving us a large perspective of the music that we love dancing to, the music of the Golden Age of Tango*
